When the Titan submersible lost communication with its support ship on Sunday while diving to the Titanic disaster site in the North Atlantic, there were five personnel on board. The five individuals on board are thought to be dead, according to the U.S. Coast Guard and OceanGate Expeditions, the firm that operated the submersible, on Thursday.
